Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 May 2026 · Version 1.0

This site collects almost no data about you. This page explains what little is collected, why, and what rights you have under GDPR and UK GDPR.

  • Map tiles, fonts and the Leaflet library are loaded from third-party CDNs whose own policies apply — see the Cookies page for details.

What data we process

1. Server access logs

Our hosting provider (Netlify, Inc.) automatically records each request to the site. These logs contain:

  • IP address
  • Date and time of the request
  • URL requested and HTTP response code
  • Browser user-agent and referrer

These logs are retained according to Netlify's policy and are accessed only when needed to investigate security incidents or technical errors. We do not export or analyse them for marketing.

2. Email correspondence

If you write to us at the privacy contact above, we will process your email address and the content of your message for the sole purpose of replying to your request. Messages are kept for the time strictly necessary, and in any case no longer than 24 months unless legally required.

3. Third-party CDN requests

When your browser loads this site, it also requests fonts, the Leaflet library, and map tiles from third-party servers. Those servers receive your IP address as a normal part of any HTTP request. We do not control or receive that data.

The third parties involved are listed on the Cookies page with links to their own privacy policies.

Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)

  • Server logs and CDN technical requests: legitimate interest of the controller (Art. 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site secure, available, and functional.
  • Email correspondence: performance of pre-contractual or relational measures requested by you (Art. 6(1)(b)).

Data sharing and international transfers

We do not sell, rent or share your data. The third-party services we use (Netlify, Fontshare, unpkg, CartoDB, OpenStreetMap) operate their own infrastructure, which may include servers in the United States or the United Kingdom. They are bound by their own GDPR-compliant policies and, where applicable, by Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under the EU GDPR (Regulation 2016/679) and the UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you (Art. 15)
  • Rectify inaccurate data (Art. 16)
  • Erase your data (Art. 17)
  • Restrict processing (Art. 18)
  • Data portability (Art. 20)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@pistakkio.net. We will respond within 30 days.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe your rights have been infringed, you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

  • Italy — Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali
  • United Kingdom — Information Commissioner's Office
  • Or the supervisory authority of your country of residence within the EU/EEA.
